Kicking off Black History Month, Stic-Man, vegan rapper, activist and one half of the political hip-hop duo Dead Prez, known for their hard-hitting style and politically active lyrics, focusing on racism, activism against governmental hypocrisy, and corporate control over the media will be LIVE tonight on Vegan World Radio. Also on tonight's show will be the owners of Houston's black owned vegan restaurant, The Vegan Cafe. Many other black vegans will be highlighted who are taking action against against animal abuse and cruelty through activism, music and leadership in an effort to create an awareness in the black community to join together in an unified movement for peace..

Dead Prez is an American underground political hip hop duo composed of stic.man and M-1. They are known for their confrontational style combined with socialist and pan-Africanist lyrics. These lyrics tend to focus on revolution, veganism, institutional racism, critical pedagogy, police, capitalism, education, prison systems, religion, activism against governmental repression, and corporate control over the media.   Dead Prez uses music  to rail against the inequities in American Society.

Mardi Gras Fund-Raising Parade for the Animals in Galveston   
12th Annual Krewe of the BARKUS AND MEOUX Mardi Gras Parade, Sunday Feb 14 , commences at 1:00 pm/ line-up begins at noon. Friendly dogs welcome. Parade route starts at 27th and Seawall and proceeds west to 47th Street. This event provides a fun venue for families to share with their beloved animal companions while participating in Mardi Gras Galveston. The Barkus and Meoux Parade is a fundraiser for the Galveston Island Humane Society and will benefit their spay/neuter~ Fix 'Em for $5 program this year. $20 advance registration and $25 day of parade with sponsorship options available.

Protest the Cruelty of the Houston Rodeo with H.A.R.T. 
Join the Houston Animal Rights Team (HART) in protesting the cruel tradition and violent bloodsport of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Learn more at HoustonRodeo.org.
