Emmanuel Eyoh Lagos, Nigeria email (English) Emmanuel, a vegetarian for over 20 years, is founder & President of the Nigeria Vegetarian Society, Founder of Nigeria Animal Welfare Foundation, Co-ordinator of the West Africa Vegetarian Congress 2007, he runs a vegetarian charity known as SEVAOUTREACH, a hunger relief and charity initiative of the Nigeria Vegetarian Society [NVS] which serves free vegan food as well as render humanitarian support to needy and homeless persons in Nigeria and other countries in Africa. And ![]() Animal Rights Africa The South African conservation system was conceived during colonialism and apartheid and reflects the authoritarian norms of that era. These were landscapes that produced both human and other animals as victims....Today, conservation management remains under the control of long-entrenched bureaucrats. Mostly white, Afrikaans-speaking men, these functionaries come from the same tight-knit community as many of those involved in captive breeding and canned hunting. Many are hunters themselves. VEGAN Foods Tuesday, February 17, 2009 The Animal Law Section presents a free lecture entitled "Putting Meat on the Table: Industrial Farm Animal Production in America" On February 17, 2009, the State Bar of Texas Animal Law Section will host Michael J. Blackwell, DVM, MPH, Assistant Surgeon General USPHS (ret.) to present the Report of the Pew Commission on Industrial Farm Animal Production in America. Dr. Blackwell, a key commission member, will address the dramatic transition in animal agriculture in America -- from farm animal production on small and medium-sized family farms to systems of large intensive operations, known as confined animal feeding operations or "CAFOs," and the resulting negative impacts on the environment, public health, rural communities and the health and well-being of the animals themselves. Dr. Blackwell will also address the state of federal regulation and recommended legislation.
